Collaborations has always been a cornerstone of the company’s growth and scientific excellence. Over the years, the company has established strong partnerships with leading research institutes, universities, healthcare organizations, public bodies, and industry stakeholders at both national and international levels. These collaborations have promoted knowledge exchange, scientific innovation, and the development of a broad network of experts committed to improving public health and advancing healthcare research.

CEPI

VisMederi plays a key role within the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) centralized laboratories network (CLN), the world's largest network dedicated to standardizing the evaluation of vaccine candidates against epidemics and pandemics. Within the global research group, VisMederi collaborates with the network’s partner laboratories to use harmonized reagents and shared protocols to support the standardized evaluation of vaccine candidates. VisMederi's collaboration with CEPI builds on the experience gained during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the organization was selected as one of the laboratories in CEPI's CLN to support the standardized assessment and comparison of immune responses to COVID-19 vaccine candidates. Today, VisMederi's serves as reference laboratory for Influenza and Mpox vaccine program, supporting the generation of robust and comparable immunogenicity data across sites and studies. For H5N8 influenza, VisMederi's test portfolio includes serological methods commonly used for vaccine licensure, including HAI, SRH, and microneutralization. For Mpox, VisMederi's test portfolio includes neutralization tests against multiple strains. Launched in 2020, CEPI's network of centralized laboratories has expanded to support vaccine developers across multiple pathogens and geographies. This work contributes to global preparedness efforts aimed at accelerating the development of vaccines for future epidemic and pandemic threats.

GCCL

During World Vaccine Congress 2026, VisMederi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GCCL, a global clinical research services provider. This strategic partnership marks an important step in strengthening VisMederi’s international presence and in building a collaborative platform connecting Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The partnership aims to create concrete synergies in vaccine development by combining the analytical expertise and global networks of both organizations. Through this collaboration, VisMederi and GCCL will expand their support for global vaccine development programs, with a particular focus on emerging infectious diseases and potential large-scale outbreaks. The integration of their respective BSL-2 and BSL-3 research infrastructures, along with their bioanalytical capabilities, will further enhance their ability to respond effectively to complex and high-impact public health challenges.

IVI

In 2024, VisMederi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), a leading international non-profit organization dedicated to vaccine research and development for low- and middle-income countries. The agreement strengthens collaboration in vaccine R&D, training, and capacity building to support global public health. It focuses on joint programs to improve healthcare systems and accelerate the introduction of new vaccines through shared expertise and resources. Within the partnership, VisMederi plays a key role by contributing its expertise in clinical studies and vaccine efficacy evaluation for emerging pathogens, helping to generate the evidence needed to bring effective vaccines to market faster—particularly in underserved regions. The collaboration also includes joint participation in international research funding programs, such as European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), further expanding opportunities to advance infectious disease prevention and global health innovation.

UNIMI

VisMederi’s partnership with the University of Milan started between the first and the second Italian wave of SARS-CoV-2 in 2020. Initially, the collaboration was based on the development of new generation of purified proteins synthesized through the Leishmania tarentolae platform. Subsequently, the collaboration was strengthened through the development of a new potential mucosal vaccine that uses the Leishmania tarentolae platform as a carrier for the immunological response. To date, the collaboration continues with several scientific publications in the field of infectious diseases prevention.

UNISI

Collaborating to various research projects, the University of Siena is for VisMederi also an important think tank. Several researchers have carried out their PhD in VisMederi, helping to enrich the knowledge and skills of the Company. VisMederi has also contributed to various initiatives promoted by the University, from scientific dissemination activities to activities supporting active job search and introduction of high school students to the world of Sciences and Research. VisMederi is also part of the Institute for Global Health (IFGH) that is the natural evolution of the University of Siena’s tradition in science, infectious diseases, its prevention and treatment, vaccines and public health. The IFGH offers internationally recognized programs delivered by global academic and industry leaders in selected areas of global health, equipping program participants with the practical and professional expertise they need to lead the next generation of scientists, researchers, and health practitioners across the globe.

TLS

During the COVID-19 pandemic, VisMederi played a key role in supporting the development of anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies led by the Toscana Life Sciences (TLS) Foundation in Siena in collaboration with AchilleS Vaccines, Menarini Biotech and IBI Lorenzini. Through its Monoclonal Antibody Descovery Laboratory (MAD Lab), directed by Prof. Rino Rappuoli, TLS led the developed highly potent human monoclonal antibodies, including MAD0004J08, which demonstrated effectiveness against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants. Within this effort, VisMederi — part of the TLS bioincubator — contributed its expertise in bioanalytical method development by designing and validating assays to evaluate anti–SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies. These tools were essential for assessing their neutralizing activity and overall performance. Results published in distinguished journals such as Nature confirmed the antibodies’ ability to neutralize multiple variants. VisMederi’s contribution showcases its advanced expertise in applied research and bioanalytical method validation—extending beyond serological testing to the comprehensive assessment of efficacy and quality of cutting-edge biotechnological products, including antivirals and monoclonal antibodies. This collaboration positioned the Sienese research among leading efforts in the field and opened the way for further applications of the technology to other infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance challenges.

CEVAC

VisMederi and CEVAC, the Belgian vaccine research center integrating a Clinical Trial Unit and an Immunomonitoring Laboratory, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration in vaccine clinical research. The agreement reinforces the long-standing expertise of both organizations and promotes a more integrated European approach to vaccine development. By combining complementary scientific expertise, clinical infrastructure, and international networks, the partnership will provide comprehensive support for vaccine developers throughout the entire clinical trial pathway—from clinical site management and participant recruitment to sample processing, immunological and bioanalytical testing, data management, and scientific support. This collaboration further expands VisMederi's international network and reflects a shared commitment to accelerating vaccine innovation and improving global preparedness for emerging infectious diseases.

KingMylab

KingMylab and VisMederi have officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to strengthen global clinical trial testing for vaccines and biologics. By combining KingMylab's extensive central laboratory expertise with VisMederi's advanced bioanalytical capabilities and internationally recognized vaccine immunogenicity assessment technologies, the partnership will deliver high-quality, compliant, and globally integrated testing solutions for pharmaceutical companies. The collaboration will place a strong focus on supporting multinational clinical trials through standardized testing approaches and harmonized methodologies, ensuring reliable and comparable data across global study sites. This strategic alliance represents an important step toward accelerating the development and international availability of innovative vaccines and biologics, ultimately helping bring new therapies to patients worldwide.
